George Jones Picture
By most accounts, George Jones is the finest vocalist in the recorded history of country music. Initially, he was a hardcore honky tonker in the tradition of Hank Williams, but over the course of his career he developed an affecting, nuanced ballad style. In the course of his career, he never left the top of the country charts, even as he suffered innumerable personal and professional difficulties. Only Eddy Arnold had more Top Ten hits, and Jones always stayed closer to the roots of hardcore country. Jones was born and raised in east Texas, near the city of Beaumont.

Back Down To Hung Up On You Lyrics

George Jones

Oh, I've come to the point where I've had one to many
And one short of having too few.
Oh, my bottle of freedom is one drink from empty
Turned 'em back down to hung on you.
I come here to exchange and something to offer
But not as much as I would like too.
'Cause as high as I get is how low I'll be fallin'
Hauled back down to hung up on you.
Feeling nothing at all for awhile sure feels better
Than the hurtin' you're puttin' me through
But as sure as I am of a sunrise tomorrow
I'll be back down to hung up on you.
--- Instrumental ---
Feeling nothing at all for awhile sure feels better
Than the hurtin' you're puttin' me through
But as sure as I am of a sunrise tomorrow
I'll be back down to hung up on you.
Yes, as sure as I am of a sunrise tomorrow
I'll be back down to hung up on you...
